ALESN Springtime Picnic

 
ALESN picnic is this Saturday!
 
If you attended last year's picnic in April, we will be in the same area inside Battery Park City - on Saturday, May 25th from approximately 11am to 4pm.

Please look for the Nelson A. Rockefeller Park House (located at #3 at http://www.bpcparks.org/bpcp/map/map.php)  On River Terrace between Warren and Murray St, where there are several picnic tables as well as an open lawn. This is right next to the handball court and a few steps away from free ping pong and pool tables, all of which we can utilize. Restroom facilities are also conveniently located right across the street. Note this is NOT near the Staten Island Ferry.

For those coming by subway, take the 1/2/3 or A/C line to Chambers Street. Walk west along Chambers and cross West Street (West Side Highway) into BPC.

ALESN will provide cups, plates, napkins, spoons and forks. Please bring food/drinks for yourself and some to share (Of course, homemade food for those of you who can cook or bake is always greatly welcomed).
 
Feel free to also bring your frisbee, handball, badminton rackets, blankets, bikes and your language study materials :)

ALESN'S GOT TALENT Open Mic/Talent Show

ALESN'S GOT TALENT

As the last two years were such a tremendous success, for the last day of our Saturday classes ALESN will be hosting our third annual Open Mic/Talent Show. All students are encouraged to present a 5 minute (or less) performance suitable for a family audience. Sing, dance, read a poem, tell a joke, do magic, martial arts or just tell a story. Participants have the option of performing in Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese or English. Spectators are encouraged to attend with their friends and family.

With a few exceptions, this event will take place in our regular Saturday classroom, so please note space limitations for your performance. If time permits, encore performances will be encouraged. Duets and group performances are also welcome. So don't be shy. Let us see your hidden talent. It doesn't have to be great. The point is to share and just have fun. Dinner and Karaoke to follow. Hope to see you all there!
